Taxable Prizes – Is a gift from a time share presentation taxable?

A question that is occasionally asked regarding the gifts you receive to entice you to attend a time share presentation is whether or not the gift is taxed, and if so, in which country will this tax be paid.

The question of paying tax on a time share presentation gift is related to whether it is seen as a taxable income. As the majority of time share incentives are freebies, discounts or complimentary breakfasts, tours, experiences and so on, there is little cause to claim these gifts as taxable. In the case that your incentive is a cash gift, which is very rare, in most countries this would be tax free, although you should check with the country in question.
