Planned developments in Cancun’s Playa Mujeres Neighborhood for 2017 – 2018

For the period between 2017 and 2018, there are a number of planned developments for the Cancun and Playa Mujeres neighborhood. The Playa Mujeres neighborhood is just about 10 km north of the hotel zone in Cancun and is an area that is starting to become an exclusive location. Near the tourist port for ferries to Isla Mujeres, this area is really very popular amongst vacationers who want to get away from the Spring Break vibe and the busy hotel zone in central Cancun.

In the Playa Mujeres neighborhood you will find the Villa del Palmar Cancun Beach Resort and Spa, Secrets and Excellence resorts, the Playa Mujeres Golf Club and the V&V Marina. More shopping malls, bars, and restaurant are underway in this area for 2017 and 2018, targeting a more elegant clientele. Also, a brand new Garza Blanca Resort from the Tafer group will be opening next door to the Villa del Palmar Cancun in 2018.

Large Growth Occurring in Riviera Maya

There is also large growth planned for the Riviera Maya that is just south down the coast from Cancun. This area is also known as the Golden Mile where many big name investors have been called in and the world’s top exclusive luxurious resorts are planning on building in this area. Another Garza Blanca Resort is already making plans to start building in the area in 2018 and Disney has already invested eight hundred million dollars, so their DreamWorks Theme Park construction can begin where Shrek and Madagascar will be showcased. In Latin America, the DreamWorks Theme Park will be the first ever built in the area. Another major investor that will be starting their construction in the Golden Mile area is the Cirque du Soleil Theme Park and it is scheduled for its grand opening in 2018.

There are many exciting planned developments in Cancun and the Riviera Maya that are scheduled to start in 2017 and 2018. Mexico’s Caribbean paradise will be more exciting in the near future for tourist visiting Cancun and locals.
